Spanish Two

¡Voy a sobrevivir!
This Spanish project required using all Spanish Skills. As we created our guides for foreign Spanish speaking country's i found myself relying upon many internet and actual persons for this information. This project required using different resources to find information, I recently traveled to Mexico for a week, so i chose to specifically focus on Baja Mexico rather than Mexico as a whole. Each guide is personalized and comes with a map, helpful phrases, vocabulary, and sample dialogues.

Resultaron muertas personas

Que no era americano
Joaquín Murrieta es mexicano
Los americanos temblaron con miedo
Misericordia nos se dado

  El venía de Hermosillo
en busca de oro y riqueza
Y a buen precio los sherifes
Pagaban por su cabeza

Los americanos no entienden
Viene a vengar a su esposa
Su esposa no merecer murió
Buena suerte es siguió con muerte

Su carrera comenzó de esperanza
Terminó sin esperanza
Por eso salió al camino
A matar americanos

Sufrir una muerte violenta
Este destino es todo lo que tiene
El llevó las vidas de todos
Los hombres culpables de asesinato

Él está una persona
Hicieron la derecha del mundo
Que representa los débiles y pobre
Él es Joaquín Murrieta

 Ode of Joaquin Murrieta

Welcome friends to the legend of Joaquin Murrieta
He has strength and Courage
The miners are jealous and hateful
They are not cowboys

No justice but a bullet
The bullets are justice
Revenge for his wife
People were killed

He was not American
Joaquin Murrieta is Mexican
The americans tremble in fear.
Mercy was not given

He came from Hermosillo
For gold and wealth
The sheriffs put a good price
 On his head

The americans don’t understand
He comes to avenge his wife
His wife did not deserve to die
Good fortune is followed by death

My career started from hope
It ended without hope
That's why I set out
To kill Americans

To die a violent death
This fate is all he has
He takes the lives of all
The men guilty of murder

He is one person
Doing right in the world
He represents the weak and poor
He is Joaquin Murrieta

The link to the actual Joaquin Murrieta corrido

The Corrido project was very rich in history content. It involved learning about the Mexican revolution which was a uprising in mexico where the president was overruled and new government was established. The Mexican American war was another topic we covered during the corrido project, The Mexican american war was a conflict between mexico and America over territory. Overall the topics we learned for the Corrido project were extensive and helpful.
The project i chose to make in Spanish represented my interests in Spanish legends and  history. Joaquin Murrieta  was a real person who committed real crimes, however his story was exaggerated highly. His story was exaggerated to the point when stories were told of how he killed a thousand people to avenge his wife. It was interesting to me and mysterious which is why i chose to make a silhouette of a mystery Mexican man alone in the dessert. Creating the corrido that expressed Joaquin Murieta's work was difficult because it was hard to connect to his story in a way which could be reflected by a song. The work done in this project was extremely engaging and rewarding.
In this project i had trouble recognizing imperfect tense verbs. I had to revisit learning and mastering how to conjugate and recognize this tense. Preterit tense also gave me some trouble but i reviewed similar to imperfect and it all worked out. I also learned that there are a lot of nouns that aren't completely spelled the same way depending on the circumstance. I learned a lot about Joaquin Murrieta and the realness of his story. I also learned that Mexican workers were treated very poorly, they were taken advantage of and then forced back to mexico when they became a problem. This project was most challenging for me because of the fact that i cant even write a song in English much less Spanish. It was challenging using English words that didn't necessarily work in their Spanish from.
